More Information

Darryl Singer heads up Diamond & Diamond’s Commercial and Civil Litigation Practice Group. He also continues to run a sizeable Personal Injury practice.

Darryl has almost 25 years of trial experience, having graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1991 and being called to the Bar in Ontario in 1993.

Over the years he has maintained a broad based litigation practice, becoming known for his advocacy skills. He develops an appropriate strategy for each client based on the end goal of that particular client, and does not believe in a one-size fits all approach to the law. He is respected by opposing counsel and the judiciary, and is regularly retained as counsel by other law firms to appear in court and conduct trials.

His extensive litigation experience includes the areas of personal injury; all manner of contract, negotiation and business disputes; insolvency and restructuring for individuals and corporations; debt collection and enforcement, including mortgage enforcement; franchise disputes; employment law and wrongful dismissal law for employers and employees; real estate litigation; professional negligence matters; as well as professional regulation, defending lawyers and other professionals before their disciplinary bodies. He has also argued over 60 complex commercial injunctions, winning all but 3. All of this means he has literally thousands of hours in trial, motions, discoveries, and negotiations.

He appears before all levels of court in Ontario including the Superior Court, Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal as well as numerous government tribunals, municipal councils, and professional regulatory bodies on behalf of his clients.

Darryl also currently teaches Professional Responsibility, as well as Personal Injury Practice, at Osgoode Hall Law School. He also teaches advocacy skills, professional ethics, and practice management at Ryerson University’s Law Practice Program.

Darryl sits on the Boards of the York Region Law Association (where he chairs the Civil Litigation Committee) and the Osgoode Hall Alumni Association. He is the author of two legal text books on personal injury law; writes the monthly Wellness Column for the Lawyers’ Daily; a monthly legal blog for Huffington Post; and is a frequent contributor and interview subject on various legal and wellness issues for Law Times, Lawyers’ Daily, Canadian Press, Globe and Mail, CFRB, and other media outlets.

He also acts regularly as Pro Bono Duty Counsel for the Advocates’ Society and Pro Bono Law Ontario. He is also a peer volunteer with the Law Society’s Member Assistance Program, acting as a mentor for lawyers in crisis.
